Albin Lambotte was an early-twentieth-century Belgian surgeon who pioneered modern fracture fixation. His name attaches to a family of orthopaedic instruments — most prominently the Lambotte bone-holding forceps used during open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of long-bone fractures. Lambotte forceps grip the bone shaft firmly during plate or screw placement; the sharp pointed tips engage cortical bone without slipping.
