Albin Lambotte was an early-twentieth-century Belgian surgeon who pioneered modern fracture fixation. His name attaches to a family of orthopaedic instruments — most prominently the Lambotte bone-holding forceps used during open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of long-bone fractures. Lambotte forceps grip the bone shaft firmly during plate or screw placement; the sharp pointed tips engage cortical bone without slipping. Lengths of 19 cm, 24 cm, 28 cm, and 32 cm cover most ORIF applications. Modern Lambotte patterns are made from AISI 440 or 17-4 PH stainless for the higher yield strength required to hold large bones under reduction force.
The LAMBOTTE x =6 mm 250mm 25cm (Ref BS 14-230-01) is part of the Fizza Surgical instrument catalogue, manufactured under ISO 13485:2016.
