Needle holder, reusable

The Mayo-Hegar needle holder combines two surgical lineages: the Mayo brothers’ robust-instrument design philosophy and Alfred Hegar’s nineteenth-century work on uterine surgery. Hegar developed the original needle holder for vaginal hysterectomy; the Mayo Clinic surgeons refined it into the modern pattern. The defining features are the box-lock joint, fine cross-hatched jaws that grip the needle without rotation, and integrated ratchet for hands-free needle holding. Tungsten carbide insert variants extend service life dramatically — TC-tipped Mayo-Hegars remain sharp through thousands of autoclave cycles where standard stainless tips dull. The 15 cm and 18 cm lengths are most common.

Sialkot has been the world’s primary cluster for surgical-instrument manufacturing since the late nineteenth century, when local steel workshops began supplying instruments to British military and civilian hospitals. Fizza Surgical’s facility continues that tradition, combining workshop craftsmanship with the metallurgy and quality systems modern medical regulation requires. Fizza products are exhibited at international medical-device trade fairs in Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
