This 220mm (22cm) variant features a distinctive blunt lower blade tip that slides safely under dressings, lifting them away from the skin surface during cutting. The Esmarch pattern, named after the German military surgeon Friedrich von Esmarch (1823–1908), features an extra-strong blade construction designed for cutting through heavy plaster and compression bandages. Forged from AISI 420 martensitic German-grade Stainless Steel, hardened to 54–56 HRC.
