DeBakey Vascular Scissors 45° 280mm TC – Tungsten Carbide Cardiovascular Instrument

The DeBakey 45° vascular scissors with tungsten carbide (TC) inserts represent the premium configuration of this classic cardiovascular instrument. Tungsten carbide inserts on the AISI 420 stainless steel body provide cutting edges that remain sharp up to five times longer than conventional stainless steel alone. The 280mm extra-long length with 45° angulation is designed for deep thoracic and abdominal vascular procedures.

Tungsten carbide insert technology delivers a Rockwell hardness of approximately 90 HRA at the cutting edge, compared to 54-56 HRC for standard stainless steel. This dramatic increase in edge hardness translates to significantly longer intervals between sharpenings and more consistent cutting performance throughout lengthy cardiovascular cases. The gold-colored finger rings identify this as a TC instrument per international convention.

Key Features

  • Tungsten Carbide Inserts: TC inserts on AISI 420 body deliver up to 5x longer edge life than standard stainless steel

  • 280mm Extra-Long Length: Designed for deep thoracic and abdominal vascular access
  • Gold Ring Identification: Industry-standard gold finger rings indicate tungsten carbide cutting edges
