Graves Speculum — Medium 95 × 30 mm
The 95 × 30 mm Graves shares the standard-medium length but with a 5 mm narrower distal blade — the size to reach for in the parous adult whose lower-third vaginal calibre is narrower than the median: post-vaginal-repair patients (anterior or posterior colporrhaphy), patients with prior episiotomy stricture, women on tamoxifen with paradoxical narrowing, and the parous patient who reports persistent discomfort with a standard medium blade.
Reading the introital fit
The operator who finds the 95 × 35 mm Graves “won’t go in without pushing” should switch to the 95 × 30 mm rather than force the standard size. Tissue resistance at the introitus is the body’s signal that the wrong diameter is at the door; using the narrower distal blade reaches the cervix with the same anterior-blade lift but without the lateral-wall trauma that produces the next-day pelvic ache the patient remembers.
Indications you will not find in the medium 35
Post-surgical narrowing from earlier repair, prior radiation when the post-radiation stenosis is mild, multipara with intermediate calibre between the small and the standard medium.
