Professional Pedicure Instruments: Complete Kit Guide for Salon Buyers

Pedicure Instruments That Stay Sharp Through a Full Day of Services

A professional pedicure service touches almost every instrument category in a nail technician’s kit. Nail clippers for length reduction. Nail files for shaping and smoothing. Cuticle pushers to retract the proximal fold. Cuticle nippers for fine cuticle removal. Callus scrapers for dry skin. Nail buffers for surface finish. When any one of these instruments is substandard, it affects the whole service.

Fizza Surgical manufactures the complete range of pedicure instruments at our Sialkot facility for professional salon supply. Here is what belongs in a complete professional pedicure kit and what to look for in each instrument.

Toenail Clippers and Nippers

Toenail clippers for professional pedicure are significantly more robust than fingernail clippers because toenails — particularly on older clients — are thicker and harder. Lever-action or compound-action clippers provide the mechanical advantage needed to cut through thick toenails without requiring excessive force that risks nail splitting.

Straight-Jaw Toenail Clipper

Cuts a straight line across the nail. The correct technique for most clients, particularly those prone to ingrown toenails — straight cutting with square corners reduces the risk of the nail corner growing into the nail fold.

Curved-Jaw Toenail Clipper

Cuts a curved profile matching the natural nail curvature. Provides a more “finished” look without requiring filing to round the corners. Not recommended for clients with a history of ingrown toenails.

Ingrown Toenail Nippers

Long, pointed jaw nippers specifically designed to reach under ingrown nail corners and cut the embedded nail edge without damaging the surrounding nail fold tissue. The narrow jaw profile is the defining feature — standard nail nippers are too wide to reach the nail corner in ingrown nail presentations.

Cuticle Pushers (Orange Stick Alternatives)

Stainless steel cuticle pushers — sometimes called nail cuticle pushers or cuticle sticks — have a flat, beveled metal head on one end that is used to push the proximal nail fold back from the nail plate. The other end typically has a pointed or curved cleaning tool for removing debris from under the nail edge.

The flat head should have a smooth, slightly curved profile that matches the curvature of the nail plate. A flat-edged pusher that is too angular can damage the nail plate surface or cause discomfort if pressed with force. Fizza Surgical cuticle pushers are manufactured with a radiused edge that slides smoothly along the nail surface without catching.

Callus Files and Foot Rasps

Callus removal is one of the most valued parts of a professional pedicure. Stainless steel foot rasps with a coarse abrasive surface remove thickened callus from the heel, ball, and toe areas. The rasp must be aggressive enough to remove callus efficiently but not so coarse that it removes too much tissue in a single pass.

Double-sided foot rasps — coarse on one face, fine on the other — allow the technician to progress from callus removal to surface smoothing in a single instrument. The fine face leaves a soft, smooth heel surface after the coarse face removes the bulk of the callus.

Stainless steel rasps are reusable and sterilizable. The abrasive surface is integral to the steel (etched pattern) and does not wear away as quickly as sandpaper-based callus removers.

Nail Scissors for Fine Work

Small, curved nail scissors for pedicure work — typically 4″–4.5″ (10–11 cm) — allow precision trimming in areas that clippers cannot reach, such as trimming the cuticle skin or addressing small skin tags around the nail fold. Curved blades adapt better to the toe area geometry than straight scissors.

Sterilization Requirements

All instruments in a professional pedicure set must be sterilized between clients in most jurisdictions. Fizza Surgical pedicure instruments are manufactured from 420-grade stainless steel and are compatible with steam autoclave sterilization at 134°C. The full set — clipper, nipper, cuticle pusher, nail file, foot rasp — can be sterilized together in a standard small instrument pouch or autoclave cassette.
