Adson Cross-Serrated 120mm — Short-Handle Variant
The 120mm cross-serrated Adson combines the grip-enhanced jaw of the cross-serrated pattern with the shorter handle length favoured in facial-plastic and oculoplastic work. The combination addresses the dense-tissue handling needs of eyelid tarsal repair and cosmetic-rhinoplasty cartilage-graft positioning — both require grip stronger than smooth-jaw and reach shorter than general-surgery 15cm.
The eyelid tarsal-plate indication
Eyelid surgery repairs the tarsal plate — a dense fibrous structure that gives the eyelid its mechanical stiffness. The smooth Adson cannot grasp tarsal tissue reliably; the cross-serrated Adson does. The 120mm length stays inside the orbital margin without the operator’s hand obscuring the field.
The rhinoplasty cartilage indication
Crushed-cartilage graft positioning in modern open rhinoplasty requires forceps that grip the graft without crushing it further; the cross-serrated 120mm Adson is the cosmetic-rhinoplasty default for graft handling. The graft is positioned, sutured into place, and the forceps released without the graft slipping out during the next manoeuvre.
