Backhaus towel clips are a simple robust instrument: scissor-action handles with sharp curved tips that pierce surgical drapes to hold them in position around the operative field. Developed in the early twentieth century, the pattern has barely changed because the design solved the problem the first time. Backhaus clips come in non-perforating variants where draping policy prohibits perforation, and perforating variants where the sharp tips are needed to hold heavy drapes. Lengths of 13 cm and 11 cm cover most applications. Modern Backhaus clips are manufactured from AISI 420 stainless and remain standard in every general-surgery set worldwide.

Every instrument is forged, machined, and finished at the Sialkot facility from German-origin stainless billet — austenitic 304 / 316 grades for non-cutting, mucosal-contact, and hollow-ware lines where corrosion resistance is the priority, martensitic 420 / 440 grades for cutting and edge-retention patterns where heat-treatable hardness matters, and 17-4 PH precipitation-hardened stainless for high-load orthopedic and implant-handling applications. Polishing, passivation, and final inspection are performed in-house under documented quality procedures aligned with ISO 13485:2016.
