Brophy Dressing Forceps — 20cm Dental Implant Surgery
The 20cm-labelled Brophy serves modern implant dentistry — the multi-stage operation that places titanium fixtures into the jawbone for prosthetic-tooth replacement, including sinus-lift augmentation, ridge-augmentation block grafting, and the All-on-4 full-arch immediate-load technique. Implant surgery has become one of the highest-volume oral-surgery procedures globally; the Brophy 20cm is the standard tissue-handling forceps across the technique variants.
The sinus-lift procedure
Maxillary-sinus-lift augmentation is required when posterior maxillary alveolar bone is insufficient for implant placement — typically less than 5mm of vertical bone height. The lateral-window technique creates a controlled window in the maxillary buccal wall, elevates the Schneiderian membrane, and packs the resulting space with bone-graft material. The Brophy 20cm handles the Schneiderian membrane during elevation — too aggressive forceps grip tears the membrane and aborts the procedure; the Brophy’s calibrated jaw closure preserves the membrane.
Why the cm convention
Modern dental-implant teaching uses cm-labelling globally; the 200mm-labelled SKU (DF 03-90-01) serves European medical-device-regulation labelling.
