DeBakey Offset Straight — Houston-Methodist Pattern
Michael E. DeBakey (1908-2008) of Houston-Methodist gave his name to the offset-shank vascular scissor that lifts the surgeon’s hand clear of the wound. The offset-straight reference pattern serves abdominal-aortic-aneurysm sac arteriotomy, infrarenal-aorta-to-iliac graft inlay, and the deep distal-anastomosis cut where a non-offset shank would crowd the field. Reference offset by Texas-Heart-Institute convention.
Offset-straight use
- AAA-sac arteriotomy
- Aortic-iliac graft inlay
- Deep distal anastomosis
DeBakey offset straight, AISI 420 stainless. Hand-finished in Sialkot.
