Freer Gouge – Curved Nasal Bone Instrument
The Freer Gouge features a concave (trough-shaped) cutting edge designed for scooping and removing bone from the nasal septum and surrounding structures during ENT surgery. Unlike the flat-edged Freer Chisel, the gouge variant excels at creating channels and removing bone ridges in septoplasty and nasal reconstruction where curved tissue removal is preferred.
Key Features
- Concave Gouge Blade: Trough-shaped cutting edge for scooping bone removal without damaging adjacent mucosa
- Narrow Profile: Slender design allows access through the nasal corridor for deep septal work
- Premium Stainless Steel: Manufactured from AISI 420 martensitic German-grade Stainless Steel, heat-treated to HRC 50–56 for superior edge retention
- Smooth Round Handle: Cylindrical grip enables fine rotational control during gouge procedures
- Fully Autoclavable: Engineered for consistent reprocessing via steam sterilization at 134°C
Clinical Applications
- Nasal septum bone ridge removal
- Septoplasty bone spur excision
- Rhinoplasty bone contouring
- Sinus bone thinning and fenestration
- ENT corrective nasal surgery
