Mixter Straight 17 cm — Around-the-Pedicle Suture Cut
Samuel Jason Mixter (1855-1926) of Boston gave his name to the right-angle pattern that lets a surgeon pass around a tied pedicle without dragging on the ligature itself. 17 cm straight serves the pulmonary-vein circumferential-suture trim during open lobectomy, the inferior-vena-cava cuff during liver-transplant explant, and ligated splenic-artery stump trim in deep emergency splenectomy.
