Jacques-Louis Reverdin, a nineteenth-century Swiss surgeon, lent his name to the suture needle pattern with the closing eyelet at the tip — a design that lets the surgeon thread the needle after insertion through tissue rather than before. The Reverdin needle is used in fascial closure, where threading a conventional needle through deep tissue is awkward. The pattern remains in clinical use in abdominal closure, hernia repair, and orthopaedic ligament repair. The defining feature is the spring-loaded eyelet near the point that closes around the suture after passage through tissue. Modern Reverdin needles are manufactured from medical-grade stainless steel and are autoclavable for repeat use.

Manufacturing compliance is verified through ISO 13485:2016 certification (the international medical-device quality standard), CE marking under EU MDR 2017/745, and FDA establishment registration. Certificate copies and regulatory documentation are available on request for inclusion in hospital procurement files and EU technical documentation packages. Sterilization validation follows ISO 17665 for steam autoclave at 134 °C.
