Semken Dressing Forceps — 125mm Microsurgery Fine Reach
The 125mm Semken is the shortest-reach Semken variant — sized for microsurgical procedures where the surgical field is small and the operator works under operating-microscope magnification. The 12.5cm length is precisely the right reach for hand microsurgery (digital-nerve repair, digital-artery anastomosis), replant work after traumatic amputation, and the small-vessel free-flap anastomoses that microvascular reconstruction depends on.
The microvascular-anastomosis context
A 1mm-diameter artery anastomosis requires 8-10 stitches of 9-0 or 10-0 nylon, placed under 10× operating-microscope magnification. The forceps tip is visible alongside the suture under the microscope; longer forceps obscure the field, shorter forceps cramp the operator’s hand. The 125mm Semken’s length is calibrated to the microscope-working-distance geometry that small-vessel anastomosis requires.
Pairing with the microsurgical instrument set
The complete microsurgical tray includes the 125mm Semken alongside the Castroviejo needle holder, the Vannas microsurgical scissors, and the dedicated microsurgical-grade nylon sutures. The instrument set is calibrated as a system for the small-vessel-anastomosis precision the procedures require.
