Standard Curved Dressing Forceps — 130mm Trigger Finger Release

The 130mm standard curved dressing forceps serves trigger-finger release surgery — the operation for stenosing flexor tenosynovitis that produces the characteristic catching sensation when the affected digit is flexed and extended. Open trigger-finger release through a transverse palmar incision divides the A1 pulley to relieve the stenosis. The 13cm curved forceps reaches behind the flexor-tendon-sheath to verify complete release at the A1-A2 pulley junction.

The trigger-finger procedure

Trigger-finger release is one of the most common hand-surgery procedures — affecting approximately 2% of the adult population, with higher rates in diabetics and women. The procedure takes 10-15 minutes under local anaesthesia in the outpatient setting. The 130mm curved forceps verifies complete A1 pulley division by passing behind the tendon — a manoeuvre that confirms the release at the digital-nerve and -artery preservation level.

The post-release verification

The patient actively flexes and extends the affected digit on the operating table to confirm the triggering is resolved before wound closure. If triggering persists, the curved forceps re-explores for residual fibrous bands that require additional division.
