Standard Curved Dressing Forceps — 200mm Cardiac Valve Curved Access
The 200mm standard curved dressing forceps serves the angled approaches to cardiac valves during minimally-invasive valve surgery — right-anterior thoracotomy mitral-valve repair, partial-upper-sternotomy aortic-valve replacement, and the transapical TAVR conversion that follows transcatheter-procedure complications. The 20cm curved tip reaches the cardiac valves at the angles these limited-access approaches require.
The minimally-invasive mitral-valve repair
Right-anterior thoracotomy mitral-valve repair (through a 4-6cm right chest incision) has emerged as an alternative to full median sternotomy for selected mitral-regurgitation patients. The smaller incision improves cosmetic outcome and accelerates post-operative recovery; the technical challenge is the limited working access through the right-thoracic approach. The 20cm curved forceps reaches the mitral valve from the right-anterior angle while preserving the wrist neutral position over the long procedure.
The transapical TAVR conversion
Transcatheter aortic-valve replacement (TAVR) occasionally requires conversion to surgical-valve replacement during the procedure — typically because of paravalvular leak, valve malposition, or peri-procedural complications. The 200mm curved forceps lives in the TAVR-conversion tray for the angled-access cardiac approach that conversion may require.
