Crile Hemostatic Forceps 140mm (14cm)
The Crile hemostatic forceps is a medium-sized clamping instrument designed for general surgical hemostasis. Similar to the Kelly forceps but with serrations extending the full jaw length (rather than partial), the Crile provides maximum grip across the entire clamping surface. This makes it the preferred choice for securing medium-calibre vessels and tissue bundles during general, abdominal, and thoracic surgery.
Design Distinction
Unlike the Kelly forceps (serrated only on the distal half), the Crile features horizontal serrations running the complete jaw length, providing uniform clamping pressure and preventing tissue slippage. The curved variant follows vascular anatomy for improved access to deeper tissue planes.
Clinical Applications
- Medium vessel hemostasis in general surgery
- Tissue bundle clamping before division
- Appendectomy and cholecystectomy hemostasis
- Thyroidectomy vessel control
- Soft tissue dissection and haemostasis
