Dandy Curved-to-Side 14 cm — Cerebral-Aneurysm Temporary
Walter Dandy (1886–1946) Johns-Hopkins neurosurgeon performed the first surgical clipping of an intracranial aneurysm in 1937 and refined the side-curved hemostat for working past the brain retractor. The 14 cm Dandy curved-to-side is the cerebral-aneurysm temporary-clipping tier — temporary parent-vessel occlusion before permanent clip on a ruptured ACoA aneurysm, distal MCA-trifurcation temporary clamping during Hunt-Hess-IV early-surgery, and basilar-bifurcation temporary occlusion via subtemporal-approach. Side-curved tip clears retractor blade. Dandy aneurysm.
Aneurysm-clipping use
- ACoA pre-permanent temporary
- MCA-trifurcation Hunt-Hess-IV
- Basilar-bifurc subtemporal
