Health Canada Regulatory Requirements

Class I devices (non-sterile, non-measuring surgical instruments) require the manufacturer to hold a valid Medical Device Establishment Licence (MDEL) or be imported by a licensed importer. ISO 13485 certification is the recognized quality management standard and is required for MDEL applications. CE marking is acknowledged as supporting compliance evidence.
