Beyond the Wertheim radical-pelvic pattern (already covered for gynae-oncology in batch 8), the Wertheim tonsil variant adapts the Vienna long-shaft design to the deep oropharyngeal corridor where tonsillar cartilage and surrounding fascia demand reach plus tip-control. Reference Wertheim tonsil handles Wertheim-Mikulicz-style adult tonsillectomy in chronically-infected tonsils, sub-acute peritonsillar-abscess capsule release, and Quinsy-and-failed-aspiration cases requiring open-incision drainage.
